As the World Economic Forum points out, we are in the middle of the 4th industrial revolution, which is characterized by a fusion of technologies that is blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres. The speed of current breakthroughs has no historical precedent in its scale, scope and complexity, as this is happening at an exponential pace disrupting every industry in every country. This is fundamentally changing the way we live, work, and relate to each other.
And yet we still live in urban environments, work in systems and organizations that were designed before in the first industrial revolution over 100 years ago. We realize that this doesn’t work anymore and that we have to re-design our models of how we live, work, learn and relate to each other. Rather than looking at these topics separately, we have to develop a new holistic integrated system thinking, where everything is connected and contributes to an overall transformation – on an individual, group and overall global society level.
